This Cathedral is both the Chapel of Christ Church College and also the official Cathedral of the diocese of Oxford, which takes in the Counties of Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire.

There has been a choir at this Cathedral since 1526. John Taverner was the organist then and was also master of the choristers.
