Vence. I took a day trip from Nice to Vence, and also visited St Paul de Vence. The bus climbed steadily into the mountains North West of Nice.
Vence has an old Medieval quarter, and has a pleasant ambience.
This Cathedral in Vence is the smallest Cathedral in France! It is called the Cathedrale de la Nativite de Marie de Vence.
This mosaic, designed by Marc Chagall, is in the Cathedral of Vence.
Not far from Vence, on the road back to Nice, lies the Medieval village of St Paul de Vence.
St Paul de Vence is very popular with the tourists, but, despite the many shops and boutiques, it manages to retain its charm and dignity.
Several artists have set up their studios here.
I visited St Paul de Vence in early May, and there was still plenty of snow on the peaks of the Alpes Maritimes. The air was crisp and clean.
