Vence. I took a day trip from Nice to Vence, and also visited St Paul de Vence. The bus climbed steadily into the mountains North West of Nice. | |||
Vence has an old Medieval quarter, and has a pleasant ambience. | |||
This Cathedral in Vence is the smallest Cathedral in France! It is called the Cathedrale de la Nativite de Marie de Vence. | |||
This mosaic, designed by Marc Chagall, is in the Cathedral of Vence. | |||
Not far from Vence, on the road back to Nice, lies the Medieval village of St Paul de Vence. | |||
St Paul de Vence is very popular with the tourists, but, despite the many shops and boutiques, it manages to retain its charm and dignity. | |||
Several artists have set up their studios here. | |||
I visited St Paul de Vence in early May, and there was still plenty of snow on the peaks of the Alpes Maritimes. The air was crisp and clean. | |||
