The Principality of Monaco lies East of Nice, and close to the Italian border. It is a brash and fun place to visit, with just a few older buildings among the new skyscrapers. | |||
Monaco is mostly built on hills which venture up into the mountain range which acts as a dramatic backdrop to the town. | |||
These funky sculptures are in front on the Oceanographic Museum. Jacques-Yves Cousteau was a director of this museum from 1957 to 1988. | |||

Monaco has several ports. This one is in the Western part of the town, just beneath the plateau which houses the Palace of the Grimaldis. | |||
