Tony Abbott, our Australian Prime Minister, seems to be in deep trouble. He has put a lot of voters offside with many of his policies, many of which were his own "Captain's Pick".

The final straw for many was his unilateral decision to grant Prince Philip an Australian Knighthood, which was a truly bizarre idea.

There are now calls from within his own Parliamentary Party for him to step aside and let someone else become the Leader. The opinion polls suggest that he would lead the Federal Liberal Party to a catastrophic defeat at the next elections, and there are quite a few Libs who fear for their jobs.
